AHHHH....to have 20 something legs again!!
Sheena Perry's account of the Xterra Appalachia Race last Sunday:
"Did a pre-ride on Saturday and thought to myself “OH SHIT!” The bike was a muddy mess (if you can believe it worse then Big Bear) on Saturday when we did the pre-ride and the “crick” we were suppose to cross back over was about waist deep and too swift to cross so we rode back with some guys on the road and it was a bit longer than 11 mile easy pre-ride we were all hoping for. We got back to find out they were putting in a new piece of single track along the “crick” just incase it didn’t drop by Sunday.
Well it started raining Sunday morning at 4:30 and rained till about 7:30 so the muddy mess we were on Saturday was just disgusting and the wooden bridges were so slick you could barely walk across them. Saw some guy hit one and break his collar bone and at that point I decided it wasn’t worth it! Just wanted to finish the bike in one piece and get onto the run. Rode the new piece of single track and it was actually nice and quick not what I was expecting for new single track. The MTN climb was a total hike a bike for me and most of the people I was with it was so slick tires didn’t matter. The down hill was just a slick. Was a happy camper to get on some gravel trails and packed dirt trail after that crap!
Got out on the run and really enjoyed the run. It was a nice run, an honest “TRAIL” run :) loved the run!!
Finished with a smile :) This year just isn’t my year for fast anythings so I am out to have a good time and to complete every course I sign up for.
Chrissy got 1st in our age and 2nd overall YEPPIE! Chrissy!"
As I get older I try to tell myself "you can do anything you want to", just in a different way. Lately I've been feeling everything; tired all the time, pain in my elbow (tendonitis), pain in both my knees and it's making me think, maybe I should slow down.
Never.
Enjoy your youth forever!
