Really Long Bike Rides

on Memorial Day, we had the privelege of marking
stage 3 of the Trans Sylvania Epic
a seven day stage race that is happening this week
based out of the Seven Mountains Boy Scout Camp

45 miles in length
should we drive-mark-ride-mark
or ride it all?
the decision was made
we ride

we started after a very hearty breakfast at camp
9:30 am which in hindsight was too late
very warm and muggy started with atv worn singletrack
reminiscent of parts of 3 mile

finally got to fire road sections
then the climbing began
hit Coburn in the middle of the day
made a mistake of getting "turkey club"
sandwiches from some toothless people
running a little store

they were nice though
let us use their sign to
staple arrows to

with bellies too full
and heat too much
the ride got really hard

during the fisherman's path
went into the mental cave that you
have to talk yourself through

hit really huge climbs
and was rewarded on the
climb out of Poe Paddy SP
with an awesome view of Coburn
and surrounding valley

it was a great day
spent with my husband
i hope there are lots more

Summer in Colorado

On Saturday, merely 5 hours after getting back from Elk, Brett drove me to the airport

to fly to Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Highlands Ranch is a community outside of Denver next to Littleton and about a 20 minute drive from the Rockies!

I went to help de-stress my friend Jenn by putting together baby rocker things and furniture, cleaning, hanging pictures, running errands and basically anything that needed done before Summer comes on or before February 11th!

Mission accomplished. I even got 2 hikes in at Mount Falcon Park in Golden, Colorado!

Hike, Day 1 Eastern side of Mount Falcon - Trailhead is right next to the Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, CO.

Wildlife spotting:

Hike, Day 2 Western side of Mount Falcon with Jill Raynor who is out visiting a friend also.

Wildlife spotting:

And what makes a trip to Colorado complete?
Really good Mexican food.

Pollo en Mole
Muy Bien!

Elk Mountain Ski Trip January 22, 2010

Took advantage of Winter Fest for the 3rd year in a row at Elk Mountain.
Took Friday off and loaded up the Subaru with gear and six couples and headed to Scranton.

Skied for about 4ish hours, then sucked down some tasty T and T's.
Ended the day with some yummy pizza at Armetta's in Clarks Summit!

Pics here!

Ray's MTB Indoor Park is having another Women's Weekend February 19th-21! I went last year with some folks from PMBA (Philly MTB) and had a blast! We're going again this year and I want to get more women to go!!
Plan is to get a caravan going out on Thursday night and stay until Sunday Morning. Ride Friday and Saturday.
Stay at the Holiday Inn near Ray's that has special discounts for Ray's customers--1/2 price rooms!

Check out the website for details!
**If you're a woman and want to go, you need to RSVP on the Website--do it by Feb 1 and get a really cool Ray's Ladies t-shirt!!!
