Tuesday (Wednesday) Ride in Norchaux

Last night's ride was so nice, I thought I would write about it. Before the ride Steph Mader and I went for a 2 mile run from the house as a little warm up in preparation for the Capital City Challenge Adventure Race in September. At 6:05 the Perry County contingent showed up and bodies and bikes poured out of Ray Egolf's Volkswagon Van---all 5 of them: Dave Clay, Larry, Keith and Brad. SO-Chaux was represented as well by Larry Camp and Jody Eberly.

The 10 of us started out up Ridge to Woodrow. Headed through that place, down LC/MCR/STH to the Turkey clearing. Cut across to the beautiful trail down to that sweet singletrack to BB and up to Dead Womans Highway. Down DWH to Grave's...the boys did the upper and Steph and I did the lower and met up at the end at 233. Cross back over to the home side and take the other sweet singletrack to Woodrow, then take the usual trails back up to the top. Two and a half hours of fun!

There was a cool breeze on top of the mountain--quite unusual for the middle of July!

We enjoyed chili and beers on the deck afterwards. Lovely.

Teamwork

Chili and I went out to the Osterling Farm yesterday in Marysville (VisitPA 12-Hour Relay) for our second attempt at doing a race together. (The first race since the Maximus for Chili)

We had previously done the 12 hours of Lodi together as a duo team and it worked beautifully with us capturing 1st place.

This time our goal was to go out and have fun and just go for a ride. We both were a little apprehensive about this race. For Jill it was her second attempt at finishing a race this year and she wasn't sure how she would feel. I was worried about the tendinitis in my elbow acting up with all the logs that are known to be at the farm and to be honest, I never liked riding there in the past. (Plus both of us had our "female friends" with us---or "Aunt Flo"---whatever you want to call it!)

We got lucky with a gorgeous day and both went in with great attitudes.

I have to say, I had a great time! The course was much more fun than I remember it and maybe the 29 inch wheels helped me, but I was able to ride 90% of the logs and various boardwalk log and creek crossings!

Jill completed 3 laps and I went for an extra lap, making 7 laps for our team. There was another women duo team who where cyclocross racers who were turning in sub 1 hour laps. We'll take a second place!

What a great day and it wouldn't have been that way with anyone else.

Thanks, Chili!

Bear BIG...

Wow. What a great weekend.
Cyclesports Fast Forward Ladies (me, Stacy Gery, Loretta Torres and Sheena Perry) finished first place out of 3 Women's Sport Teams!
Thank you Ladies for some great racing!

Brief recap:
The weather was perfect - course dry enough but soft and slow in spots. No, I did not get to see/ride with Sue Haywood on the course. Sheena and Stacy were rocking their first 24 hour race! The course was the same as two years ago except for one bit of new singletrack in the first section. Brian Fischer is fast. Brett drank alot of beer before, during and after his last "party" lap!

Kudos to my hubby's team, Cyclesports FastForward Devo Vets...they finished first out of 5 teams in their category (Vet 35+)

Thank you to all of our support people, Steph Mader (aka, Shanty B$tch), Greg Perry, Paul Doty and CREW (our mechanic), Zach Adams (our masseuse), Fernando and Jenny!

Congrats to the MBM team Jody, Larry, Chuck, Josh and Trish - they scored a third place in the 5-person Coed Open Category!

Congrats to the Singlespeed Outlaw teams as well--the SSO Chicks ROCK!! They did the whole race with one gear... :)

Great weekend with GREAT people...Thank you!
